Elon Musk clinched a deal to buy Twitter Inc. for $44B on monday in a transaction that will shift control of the social media platform populated by millions of users and global leaders to the world's richest person.
Discussions over the deal,which last week appeared uncertain,accelerated over the weekend after Mr. Musk wooed Twitter ahare holders with financing deatils of his offer.
"Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy , and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,"Mr.Musk said in a statement .
Elon Musk, Twitter’s new owner, is the eighth most followed person on Twitter with 84.3 million followers (as of April 26, 2022, 8 am)
After buying Twitter, Musk said that
he wants to make the platform "better than ever". 5. Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal also offered Musk to be a part of the board, which the Tesla CEO rejected without really stating the reason. Probably, Musk always had eyed to get 100 percent stake in the company.
